Field Studies

We believe in a holistic education approach that includes classroom learning and real-world exploration. Our field studies, ranging from local expeditions to international trips, provide students with invaluable, hands-on experiences that foster a deeper understanding of the world around them.

3 Levels of Adventure!

1.DAY TRIPS

A trip to learn about sea life at the Vancouver Aquarium; or the Playhouse; or explore a forest ecosystem.

Grade 11&12 Skating Rink Trip!

Grade 8s on their first retreat!

2.OVERNIGHT TRIPS

Three or four days in length. The most important is our annual fall Retreat – a perfect setting for students to make new friends and develop leadership skills.

2019 All grades Europe Trip

3.OVERSEAS

Trips to other countries. Past excursions have travelled to France, Italy & Greece.

Life Sciences 11 day trip to the Vancouver Aquarium

Annual We have a few annual field trips in Inter-A. The Retreat is our three-day fall trip to Camp Sunrise in September. The Retreat is intended to help returning students mingle with the new students, for everyone to make new friends, and explore and develop leadership skills.

Class-Specific Field Studies

Biology: SFU, UBC and Vancouver Aquarium where students view organisms studied in Biology 11

Culture: Chinatown, temples, churches, mosques and markets

Fine Arts: Vancouver Art Gallery, Architectural Institute of BC

Earth Science/Geography: Intrusive vulcanism, stream morphology, mountain building, even volcanoes!

Food: Granville Island

Live Theatre: Vancouver Playhouse, Bard on the Beach

Science: Science world, Burrard Inlet, Mt. Garibaldi

Social Studies: Victoria Legislature, the Royal BC Museum
